Experts agree the new frontier in sports performance is training the mental aspects of the game through technology. Neurotopia Neurofeedback Training enhances the ability to shift between periods of focus and states of calm, much like learning to shift the gears of a car.

Neurotopia Power Performance

The Neurotopia Power Performance program reduces the mental and neurological barriers to performance by improving the ability to regulate attention, screen out distraction, and enhance natural abilities. The Neurotopia Power Performance program includes the following five treatment types:

Zone Training: Sustained focus and the ability to utilize both the right and left brain hemispheres evenly is key to achieving “the zone.” The left hemisphere is used for calculating and performing the mechanics of an action. Equally using the right hemisphere is what can take an athlete to the next level of “being” instead of “doing.” Zone training creates the feeling of your body automatically knowing what to do and when to do it without having to think about it.

Reaction Time Training: This training enhances neural processing between the frontal cortex (initiates intention) and the sensory motor strip (initiates movement). Training between these cortical structures decreases the time delay between observation, intention and motor function which determines an athlete’s “reaction time.”

Balance Training: Balance training increases balance and spatial awareness (mind-body coordination) by increasing the brain's awareness of where the body, or an extension of the body (ie: golf club or motorcycle), is in time and space.

Recovery Training: This assists the mind in recovering after a failure. This is similar to treatment used for PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). This training helps separate the connection between the memory of a failure and the attached biological responses (ie: emotions, stress, anxiety, self-doubt) that occurred at the time of the failure.

Sleep Regulation: Quality sleep has been shown to increase all aspects of peak performance. Researchers at UCLA are the first to show how sleep loss affects the immune system’s inflammatory response. The research team found that even modest sleep loss triggers cellular and genetic processes involved in the immune system’s inflammatory response to disease and injury. Sleep regulation training is used to reduce sleep disorders and increase REM sleep.

TBI Treatment: Mild TBI (traumatic brain injury), including concussions, is common in sports injuries. According to an NFL study just released, athletes that experience concussions are 20 times more likely to have dementia later in life. Neurofeedback protocols are used to recalibrate the brain’s electrical patterns after a concussion which can help prevent dementia.
